Before plastics or other materials can be fully shaped into their final forms, they require some help from tooling. Thermal tooling in particular works by mounting to the upper portion of a press through precision machining. A probe or platen assembly provides heat to the press, which is passed on to the tooling through cartridge heaters or a coil wound with thermocouples. Tooling is designed for specific applications, so there will be different tooling depending on what it is you want to do with your materials.
What Is the Tooling For?
The tooling adds shape or texture to give your products a finished, polished look. There are many different ways that thermal tooling can be used. PAS creates tooling for many different applications, including:
- Date Coding
- Hot Knife De-gating
When pressed down onto the materials to be shaped, the tooling uses heat to form the material such as plastic to the shape of the tooling and press. In addition to the tooling itself, we also have plenty of spare parts, supplies, and replacement components for machines of all makes and models, even our competitors.
The PAS Difference
We want our customers to have access to all of the welding information they can get their hands on. We do our best to supply our customers with the welding, heat staking, thermoplastic, and other manufacturing solutions they require. We offer a wide range resources to answer common questions and provide advice. In addition to our online resources, our knowledgeable customer service team is available to answer questions over the phone and help you find the parts and machines you’re looking for.
